Although the name of the company has changed as the business has grown, CarterWorx, LLC, owned by Maryland native, M. Timothy Carter, has been improving homes in central Maryland since 1985. The CarterWorx team has experience in all areas of construction: renovations, additions, and new construction. Coordinating home improvement plans through a general contractor benefits the customer in a variety of ways. Designers will develop plans for your scope of work and prioritize individual jobs. Using the most recent computer technology, a design will be projected for your review. Their structural engineer will then be consulted for plan approval. Each member of the CarterWorx team has their own specialty such as cabinets and trimwork, windows and doors, or roofing and siding. Crews are polite and leave their work areas clean and safe. “They’ve all been with me for a long time,” Tim explained. “They’re like family.”
Recently, CarterWorx crews have been busy keeping homes safe from the winter weather while also making them more energy efficient. “Upgrading siding, windows and attic insulation could save you hundreds of dollars on your energy bills,” Tim explained. “For example, it is not cost effective to get less than solid core insulated siding.” He also recommends using house wrap under the siding, protecting your house from moisture and drafts.
Tim has set his sights on building custom homes that combine the finest modern materials with old world craftsmanship. “Today's builders overlook essential elements of home design,” he elaborated. “These elements can create a home which is energy efficient, termite-proof, health conscious, and practically maintenance free.

Tim Carter
Tim grew up in a family immersed in the construction industry. His great-grandfather was a cabinet maker, and his grandfather and father worked in the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning industry. They all dabbled in home building. In 1985, not having the finances to properly start a construction company, Tim started his own flooring company under the name of Carter's Custom Carpets.
Over the years his business grew to include all types of home construction and renovations. The name M.T.Carter-Contracting was added to handle the vast array of construction projects, while keeping the original business alive and strong.
To reflect a more complete emphasis on the home, the name was recently changed to CarterWorx. Through hard work and a commitment to excellence, Tim has built a reputation for quality workmanship and dependable service.
Among his goals is the desire to build new homes. He dreams of using modern materials with old world craftsmanship. “Today's builders overlook essential elements of home design; elements that, when properly executed, will create a home which is energy efficient, termite-proof, health conscious, and practically maintenance free. Individual houses I have seen, both old and new, support one or more of these elements. I want to bring them all together for the perfect home.”
